Our Orientation
This group is designed for parents who yearn to remain deeply connected to themselves through the challenges and joys of parenting. Our focus will not be on parenting philosophies or strategies. Rather, we will look at what gets in the way of being with our internal processes as we parent. In support of this, we will develop and integrate the practices in the Diamond Approach: Meditation, Embodiment and Inquiry.
Annual Rhythm
This group is ongoing, with many participants continuing. During the spring and summer months when the afternoons are lighter and warmer and conducive to outdoor play, we have a kids camp that runs concurrently with our meeting times. During the Fall and Winter months, we tend to meet on Thursday mornings while many children are at school. During each session, there is also a “Family Day” where we gather to practice together in community with the children.
Flow of the Group
We begin with meditation instruction, followed by a silent sitting practice. We then discuss the themes presented in one of the chapters of The Unfolding Now by AH Almaas. We break into groups for inquiry to explore our own experience of the chapter, particularly with respect to parenting and the issues that rise. We end with a social
time of tea and snacks and periodically a shared meal.
